I am eating this porridge with lots of white pepper while writing the blog. It tastes nice but to me something is missing. It tastes bit different from the one we used to cook at home cos could not find some of the ingredients here, the preserved vegetable and coriander.
Actually this porridge was very popular in my hometown when I was young. The villagers liked to cook this porridge for relatives and neighbours who were helping out in the wake. In those days there was a hidden meaning if someone asked "Has the porridge boiled?". It means... "Has he/she passed away?" However, we cooked it quite often at home but we never said the porridge is boiled.
