Matcha Rolled Cake I

MatchaRollCake

I baked this cake with matcha I bought in Gion, Kyoto. I am not a tea drinker, so the whole container of matcha is going to be in my baked goods or desserts like pudding. I used Pandan Swiss Roll recipe for the cake, filled with whipped cream and chopped peach.

The cake itself was soft and fluffy, with strong aroma of matcha. John ate a lot of cake, but he did not like the cream. I also noticed that T did not eat the cream part as well, he said the cream had strong buttery taste. I was thinking to make Japanese style roll cake with lots of cream, luckily I did not. Would try again with light cream, soon. By the way, I was just amazed with father and son's taste!

I am now enjoying more in baking. Reason being... I like to see John feeding himself with cake or cookies I baked. Sometimes he made satisfying sounds "ummm...." after first bite, and shared his cake with me! Even though I did not feel like eating it sometimes, I would took a small bite of cake in his hand. Thanked him and praised him for sharing, not sure if he understood. It does not matter to me, I am cherishing these moments...

  12. John is very cute and your cake......drool.

I have always been fond of anything matcha flavored. May it be cookies, biscuits, cakes, sweets, milk and so with ice cream.

Since your hubby and little price don't like cream, you can try to replace it with red bean paste perhaps. Matcha and red bean is quite a perfect match
