Steamed Chicken with Garlic & Preserved Black Bean / 蒜蓉豆鼓蒸鸡

Steamed Chicken

I usually cook something quick and easy when T is out of town. Today, I cooked this  steamed chicken to go with porridge. I love this preserved black bean very much. It tastes like the bean in the canned fish (豆鼓鲮鱼) with black bean, great to eat with steamed rice!

No precise recipe for this, simply marinate the chicken pieces with some chopped garlic, preserved black bean and some corn flour before steaming it. No salt is needed as the preserved black bean contain salt.

Ingredients:
300 g Boneless chicken thigh, cut into small pieces
1 tbsp Preserved black bean or black bean sauce
2 cloves Garlic, chopped
1 tsp Sesame oil
1 tsp Corn starch
Salt to taste (if your preserved black bean is unsalted)
Green veggies for garnish (optional)

Methods:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix well. Marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes. I usually leave it in the fridge overnight so that the chicken will be tender and juicy.
  2. Place the chicken pieces on a bowl or deep plate. Preheat the steamer, steam on medium heat for 15 minutes or until it is well cooked.
  3. Garnish with any greens. Serve warm.
