Homemade Nugget

Homemade Nugget

I made this awhile ago, was meant for John but papa and mama ate more than him. Been feeding John with porridge, noodles and pastas for almost a year since he started solid. Thought of giving him something new, so born this nugget. Too oily for toddler? No... not at all.

It was baked version, never too oily for John. I don't remember the exact measurement for this recipe. Brief recipe as follows:

Mix together same amount of mashed firm tofu, minced chicken and mashed potato. Then, season with salt, pepper, garlic and sesame oil. Keep mixture in the fridge for awhile, it would be easier to roll out later. Roll out mixture in between two sheets of pastic (about 1cm thickness), then cut with cookies cutter. Baked at preheated oven, 180ºC for about 10 minutes each side.

  4. This is a very creative idea from you, making nugget from the ingredients. Very healthy.

I like the idea of using oven to bake the food. Very simple.

May I know can I just simply shape the meat into a round shape because I dont have cookies cutter?

I will make this after I have try the Loh Mai Kai. Hehe.

  6. I have forgotten to buy tofu just now. So is it okay that the ingredients are: Mashed Potato, minced chicken and CARROT?

  7. Joanne,
Should be ok too, mashed potato help to hold the shape and other ingredients for taste and texture.

  10. Joanne,
I think your nugget is too thick, perhaps making it flatter will be nicer.

  12. That looks sooo good! Was there any flour or anything on the outside of the nugget to give it the golden colour and crunch?

  13. SoRMuiJAi,
No flour outside. The golden colour was from the mashed potato.

  14. Hi Lydia, I love this recipe . May I know how to freeze the nudget like we saw at supermarket? Bake the nudget n put in freezer or no bake?

  15. Anonymous,
I'm not sure which is good idea, probably I would not freeze them at all as the water from tofu will be separated from tofu if keep frozen.

If you really want to freeze them, try to use frozen firm tofu (just keep normal one overnite in the freezer), then squeeze all the water out before making nugget. Dont worry abt the texture, will be very good still.
