Crab Rangoons (炸乳酪云吞)

Crab Rangoon

Bought some wanton wrappers the other day been sitting in the fridge since then. Made some crab rangoons but only used up 5% of the wrappers I have. So, don't be surprised if you see more dishes with wanton wrappers in next few days.

Here is my version of crab rangoon, I shaped them into wantons and dumplings. Looked like fried wanton and tasted like fried wanton with cream cheese filling. Tak loved it very much, especially with sake. yum...

Ingredients (makes 12pcs):
12 sheet of wanton wrappers
60g cream cheese, softened
60g crab meat, lightly chopped
1 tbsp chopped chives
1/2 tsp minced garlic
salt and pepper to taste
Oil for deep fry

Directions:

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, mix together cream cheese, crab meat, chives and salt and pepper.
  2. Place 1 tsp full the mixture onto wanton wrapper and wrap and shape it into any desired shape.
  3. Deep fry until lightly browned. Serve with sour cream or mayo with sweet chili sauce (optional).

  2. murnie, i didnt use any water. use your thumb and index fingers to make a ring, place the wrapper on it. place the filling in the middle and push it in/down gently then make the "ring" smaller to seal it. I use the same method for making siew mai too... try it.
